The Foundation of Goodness prioritizes access to computers, underpinned by high quality training for rural communities, through its own dedicated and well equipped computer training centers, and through support to schools in developing their resources and staff.
We provide computer training with experienced lecturers at MCC Centre of Excellence Computer Training Centre, Aviva Village computer room and the Village Heartbeat computer classroom. Facilities include top-class air conditioned classrooms equipped with up-to-date donated computers, printers, scanners and projection equipment.
The donation of software from Microsoft means that every computer is fully up-to-date and students are able to learn using a wide range of applications and programs.
Children, youth and adults receive computer training in two batches every year, completing six-month courses in:
Introduction to IT for Kids
Certificate in Microsoft Office
Certificate in Web Design
Certificate in Graphic Design
Certificate in Computer Programming
In rural Sri Lanka, access to ICT is low especially for children. The Foundation of Goodness has provided over 500 computers to 100+ schools and numerous individuals around the country.
The Foundation has also partnered with Aitken Spence’s ‘Empowering Sri Lanka First’ Initiative to establish 3 kids computer centres in Ahungalla, Mawaramandiya and Dambulla, for which FoG has provided the syllabus as well as handling the recruitment & training of lecturers, monitoring, management and administration..
Since 2011, the Foundation of Goodness has extended its activities to Sri Lanka’s post-war North where we have begun developing local IT skills by establishing an IT Centre in Oddusuddan (Mullaitivu District) and a computer room at the Mankulam Maha Vidyalayam.
